Counseling Service of Addison County’s Youth & Family Summer Forest Project (SFP) was founded on the simple idea that teenagers thrive when they have a good job. SFP was formed in 1996, in partnership with the US Forest Service and the Moosalamoo Association. Since 2020, our partnerships have grown to include Middlebury Area Land Trust and Spirit in Nature.

SFP is an intensive, pre-vocational teen therapeutic group, focused on helping participants develop pre-vocational work and social skills. Working in groups, teens are supported to achieve real-life work, therapeutic and personal goals.

SFP has served more than 600 local youth over 30 years! Many alumni have been able to sustain good jobs and careers in our community.

Kicking off the 30th anniversary on July 1st, a U.S. Forest Service representative and CSAC’s Executive Director joined Summer Forest Staff and 22 youth participants to celebrate at the Robert Frost Interpretative Trail Head with cookies, ice cream and even new helmets provided by the U.S. Forest Service!
